- Ask! No ones going to give you anything unless you ask for it.
- Think locally. The snack shop in your lobby may donate a free lunch. The gift shop in the mini-mall down the street may give a goodie basket. Be sure to mention that this is a great way to introduce your employees to their establishment. Emphasize the potential for repeat business. Also, let them know that it may be a tax-deductible expense.
- If youre inviting vendors to a rideshare fair, ask each one to donate a prize.
- Send letters to request prizes from larger companies, such as free tickets for an amusement park or gift certificates/discounts for merchandise at retail chains. Be sure to let them know about your rideshare program and how it contributes to less traffic and clean air in Southern California.
- Give them something back. Can you thank prize donors in a flyer? Post their logo on signage? The more youre willing to give them in terms of exposure, the more likely they are to give prizes.
- Mine your own workforce for possibilities. Ask your co-workersthey may have contacts at a company that would be willing to donate prizes.
- Consider bartering. Offering products or services that your company produces as prizes may draw yawns from employeesbut the company next door might be glad to take them in exchange for their own products and services.
- Check with the rideshare agency in your county, which may have free goodies to give away.
- When you get a prize, be sure to follow through with the exposure you promisedthen send them proof along with a letter of thanks. Its a great way to make sure theyll donate again!
